Love, Lust, Fear and Freedom: The Songs of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen

Saturday, March 23, 2013 8:00PM
Tickets: Orchestra $22.50 / $30

(Food and bar service during the show in the Mezzanine. Limited availability.)

Joni Mitchell is one of the most important and influential female recording artists of the late 20th century. Her music evolved from deeply personal folk stylings into pop, jazz, avant-garde, and even world music.

Leonard Cohen is one of the most fascinating and enigmatic – if not the most successful – singer/songwriters of the late '60s. He has retained his audience through four decades of music-making.

Early in their careers, they had an affair that was short-lived, but which had a lasting effect on their work. This is the subject of Love, Lust, Fear & Freedom: The Songs of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, performed to perfection by film/television/stage actress and songstress Lauren Fox and her trio. The format consists of 16 songs (9 by Joni Mitchell and 7 by Leonard Cohen) creating a dialogue between these two masters in a breath-taking and moving revelation of familiar and well-loved songs. This show received rave reviews from none other than New York Times' music critic Stephen Holden who called the show "remarkable" and "dramatically revealing".
